Jersey Telecom Jersey Telecom, the dominant Channel Islands telecommunications provider, is a private company wholly owned by the States of Jersey with operations in both Jersey and Guernsey. The Jersey Telecom Data Hosting Centre provides Hosting, Disaster Recovery (for both voice and data) and Business Continuity facilities for local and international businesses, all under one roof. All aspects of security are provided and include a monitored digital surveillance camera system, controlled access and 24/7 security guard patrols. All systems are directly monitored by Jersey Telecom's NOC (Network Operations Centre) and Securicor's 24 hour control room. Power is backed up by a redundant UPS system and generator with 100 hours supply of fuel as well as an additional mobile generator. The entire data centre is protected by VESDA fire detection and FM200 gas drenching. Communication and data links are connected directly to Jersey Telecom's core backbone network - the largest in the Channel Islands. Off island links are provided through the UK, France and Guernsey with resilience on these links provided using SDH signalling technology (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) which means that in the unlikely event of an undersea cable failure, traffic will automatically be diverted through an alternate route in less than 50 milliseconds.
